ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

The Administrative Assistant will provide a wide range of strategic and operational services in support of the Algonquins of Ontario, including administrative, bookkeeping and data entry related tasks. This position requires a minimum of two years in an administrative role. Demonstrated experience with basic bookkeeping functions as well as inputting and managing archival data is essential. Candidates must have superior organizational skills, be proficient in a wide-range of software applications (such as Microsoft Office Suite, accounting software and archival/database software) and be exceptionally detail-oriented with a proven ability to respond quickly in a dynamic, fast-paced and changing environment.

CONSULTATION COORDINATOR

The Consultation Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the receipt, analysis and response to a variety of consultation requests from the Governments of Ontario and Canada as well as municipalities and private sector interests for various project and initiatives throughout Algonquin Traditional Territory. The Consultation Coordinator will provide a wide range of strategic, operational and capacity building services to support the meaningful engagement and consultation of the AOO.

The ideal candidate will possess a Degree in Geography, Environmental Studies, Planning or the equivalent. Candidates must be exceptionally detail-oriented with strong analytical, research, and communication skills. A demonstrated ability to foster cooperative working relationships with colleagues, senior leadership, elected officials, the general public and various levels of government is critical.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

The Economic Development Officer will be responsible for planning, promoting and implementing economic development initiatives aimed to expand the AOO’s opportunities for economic and business growth. The Economic Development Officer will work to develop and implement a comprehensive economic plan for the AOO and will assist with the development of job creation projects in order to increase local contract and employment for Algonquin businesses and community members.

This position requires a proven ability to lead and deliver a wide-range of economic development initiatives. Experience in database development along with a demonstrated ability to secure funding for economic development activities is essential. Candidates must have strong analytical, research, problem-solving and communication skills, and be exceptionally detail oriented. The ideal candidate will possess a Diploma or Degree in Business or Public Administration, Economics, Planning, or related discipline.

LANDS RESOURCE TECHNICIAN

The Lands Resource Technician will support the analysis, acquisition and management of the Provincial Crown land selections totalling approximately 117,500 acres identified in the proposed Agreement-in-Principle, as well as any Federal Surplus and private lands yet to be determined. The successful candidate will also assist in the review and timely response to consultation requests in land matters related to proposed government land dispositions, Environmental Assessment reviews, resource management matters, Official Plan reviews and major infrastructure initiatives as per the Consultation Process Interim Measures Agreement.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 3 years of related experience. Working knowledge of provincial statutes and regulations related to land tenure, land use planning and property development as well as the role of municipal Official Plans, zoning bylaws, Site Plan Agreements and Subdivision Agreements is essential. Candidates must have strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to deal sensitively with a wide variety of people and complex issues.

POLICY AND STRATEGIC INITIATIVES ANALYST

The Policy and Strategic Initiatives Analyst will provide a wide range of strategic, operational and capacity building services to the Algonquins of Ontario. These services include policy planning and implementation, policy analysis, issues resolution, project management, stakeholder relations as well as serving as the lead on a wide-range of strategic initiatives.

The ideal candidate will possess a Degree in Political Science, Geography, Environmental Studies, Social Sciences or a related discipline and a minimum 5 years of progressive related experience. Demonstrated experience inpolicy and program development and analysis as well as a firm understanding of government legislative and decision-making processes is essential.

STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR (Up to One Year Contract)

The Strategic Communications Coordinator will provide a wide range of strategic, operational and capacity building services in support of the Algonquins of Ontario. These services include communications planning and implementation, strategic management of issues as well as project management.

The ideal candidate will possess a Degree or Diploma in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, English or related discipline. This position requires a demonstrated understanding of communication strategies and media relations. Experience in leading and delivering strategic communications and community engagement initiatives along with creating effective communications products is essential. Candidates must have strong communication, analytical, research and problem-solving skills, and be exceptionally detail oriented.
